Welcome

Thank you for visiting my website and taking a moment to learn about my candidacy for the Governor’s Council.

I am seeking an open seat on the Governor's Council. Members of the Governor's Council act on criminal pardons, commutations and approval of gubernatorial appointments, such as judges, among other duties.

I ask for your support and your vote in the Democratic Primary on September 14th and, again, in the General Election on November 2, 2010.

Tell Boston: Enough’s enough

AS I SEE IT

The Telegram & Gazette’s editorial regarding the possible closings of the Leominster and Westboro district courts (“Cutting courts,” Aug. 6) is right on the mark. Access to justice for the citizens of Leominster, Shrewsbury, Grafton, Princeton, Holden, Westboro, Northboro and Southboro will be severely curtailed if the recommendations of the Courthouse Relocation Committee are implemented.

In my opinion, it is past the time when we in Central and Western Massachusetts need to tell Boston that “enough is enough.”

Fran Ford Announces His Candidacy For Governor's Council

As the former elected Clerk of Courts for Worcester County and a practicing attorney of 30 years, I believe I have the experience and qualifications to do a terrific job on the Governor's Council. As you may know, the primary job of a Governor's Councilor is to review the qualifications of judicial nominees. My terms as President of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation and the Worcester County Bar Association have allowed me the opportunity to meet and work with many of the potential judicial applicants from across the Commonwealth.

Ford pledges to remain independent on Governor's Council

Worcester Attorney and Paxton Town Moderator Francis A. Ford has announced his bid for the seventh district Governor’s Council seat that will be vacated in November.

“I believe I am extremely well-qualified to serve,” said Ford. “I possess the requisite knowledge and experience to know who will make a terrific judge or clerk and who will not.”

Ford, 57, currently works as an attorney with Fletcher, Tilton and Whipple Law Firm in Worcester. Ford has also served as Paxton Town Moderator since 1996 and has lived in Paxton for 27 years.
