Ford pledges to remain independent on Governor's Council

Worcester Attorney and Paxton Town Moderator Francis A. Ford has announced his bid for the seventh district Governor’s Council seat that will be vacated in November.

“I believe I am extremely well-qualified to serve,” said Ford. “I possess the requisite knowledge and experience to know who will make a terrific judge or clerk and who will not.”

Ford, 57, currently works as an attorney with Fletcher, Tilton and Whipple Law Firm in Worcester. Ford has also served as Paxton Town Moderator since 1996 and has lived in Paxton for 27 years.

As the former elected Clerk of Courts for Worcester County and a practicing attorney of 30 years, I believe I have the experience and qualifications to do a terrific job on the Governor's Council. As you may know, the primary job of a Governor's Councilor is to review the qualifications of judicial nominees. My terms as President of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation and the Worcester County Bar Association have allowed me the opportunity to meet and work with many of the potential judicial applicants from across the Commonwealth.
