Ford running for Governor’s Council

Paxton Town Moderator Francis A. Ford has declared his candidacy for Governor’s Council.

Ford will be running for the seat being vacated by Thomas Foley of Worcester, who announced he is running for sheriff.

The Governor’s Council appoints judges, notaries public and justices of the peace after weekly meetings with the governor.

Ford, an attorney with Fletcher, Tilton and Whipple and a Democrat, said he has not Democratic competitors at the moment.

A former sole practitioner, Ford also served as clerk of courts for the Worcester Court for four years.

Tell Boston: Enough’s enough

AS I SEE IT

The Telegram & Gazette’s editorial regarding the possible closings of the Leominster and Westboro district courts (“Cutting courts,” Aug. 6) is right on the mark. Access to justice for the citizens of Leominster, Shrewsbury, Grafton, Princeton, Holden, Westboro, Northboro and Southboro will be severely curtailed if the recommendations of the Courthouse Relocation Committee are implemented.

In my opinion, it is past the time when we in Central and Western Massachusetts need to tell Boston that “enough is enough.”
